Hand picked stigmas of the saffron crocus flower, a member of the Iris family.  Black Pearl saffron tips or threads come from Iran.  When using saffron threads, steep  in hot stock or water for about 20 minutes. This assures the full extraction of aroma, flavour and colour for your dish.
